Up up and Away!

Dear Diary,

You know when you take a walk outside and there is a solid cool breeze passing through? Do you look forward to the feeling of the air passing through your thorns?! I love that sensation, I can't get enough of it!

So imagine what it would be like feeling that all the time if you were able to stay up in the air. I bet that's why the birds fly all the time. Sigh…..I wish could fly with them…

That's why rather than be sad at the thought of not having any wings, and decided to make my own. I stopped by the supply store to get the items I needed to make my own custom set of wings. You know, the usual stuff, wire, scissors, paint, tape, and some paper.

For my size, I didn't need them to be big but I needed the base to be wide enough for me to fit in. Using the scissors I cut out the shapes I needed, and then used the wire and tape to piece them all together. The tape I got was not strong enough to bond the larger pieces, so I had to stop by the store again to buy one that was a little stronger. Ever heard of dinosaur tape? Apparently, it’s stronger than gorilla tape the local hardware stores sell, plus this tape has some scale texture, so it looks like dinosaur skin. How cool is that!

The last thing to do was to paint the pieces, I stuck to white and blue like the sky. I want to look like I've disappeared into thin air when really, I didn't. It'll be magic.

The next day the paint had finally dried and it was ready for a test run. Putting on my flying hat, I step into my wings, the fit was perfect. Flipping the switch on the fan, and closing my eyes, I was up in the sky. Going up higher and higher until the ground below looked like a miniature world. Passing through the clouds, I spot a flock of geese flying south, all their wings are perfectly synced with every motion, like a dance. They do it so effortlessly, even when other geese near the area join the flock.

Eventually, the flock turned in a new direction while I stayed on mine. I flew by mountainsides, over forests, and even made a trip down to the seaside cliffs. All the while feeling the air pass through my thorns. Before I knew it, the sky was turned dark and was time to make my dinner. Stepping out of my wings, I take off my hat and head over to the fan to switch it off. Placing my hat on the couch turn towards the kitchen, wondering where I will want to explore next.
